The land plot has a total area of 161m2 and is nestled within an alley of just over 1 meter wide. It is located in the fishing village of Cửa Đại, where the population density is high. The primary roofing material is corrugated metal sheets, with limited green areas. Although the site boasts a frontage of over 16 meters, it faces west - the direction through which the house opens to, leaving few alternative openings for the home.
The building serves as a complex that includes living space for the family, specifically for parents who have reached retirement age, along with areas for painting, teaching art, and showcasing the homeowner's works. It features both dynamic and static spaces interspersed throughout. In early discussions with the homeowner during the conceptual phase, he expressed a strong desire for a gentle, peaceful living environment for his parents as they grow older. Furthermore, he wishes to create a quiet, serene setting in his homeland to pursue his passion for painting.

With a limited construction budget, material usage had to be simplified, and careful considerations were necessary for functional layouts within each space. Each area had to be truly multifunctional in both design and furniture. Every nook and cranny had to be utilized effectively.
For an artist, light, temperature, emotion, and spirit are crucial catalysts that contribute to the essence of each artwork.
The painting room is a multifunctional space designed for painting, offline and online art lessons, small exhibitions, reading, and sometimes even a play area for children. All furnishings in this space are adaptable and easily reconfigurable to meet various needs. Additionally, the painting room connects with three different spaces:
1. A storage room that is cleverly and subtly accessed via a hidden staircase.
2. A bedroom accessed through a door concealed within a bookshelf, making it difficult to detect and ensuring privacy for the artist's sleeping quarters.
3. A direct connection to the lush garden in front, which serves as a filter for the stifling summer heat and an air purifier, providing fresh, oxygen-rich air while minimizing noise and obstructing views from outside. This ensures a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere conducive to creativity for both the student artists and the homeowner.
Returning to the family space: this area encourages strong connections among family members, friends, and students post-lessons. It combines the living room and kitchen in a highly flexible layout, with furnishings like an island kitchen and an expandable dining table, allowing them to be moved or adjusted to suit different purposes.
